Well, it's Saturday again! Here at the Cossey house, we look forward to Saturdays....cause Papa doesn't go to work! Left Brain and I had a wonderful dinner at Patti's 1880 Settlement last night. I love that place! The food is absolutely some of the best I have ever eaten! Anyway, the boys spent the night with Bebe and Pop and we enjoyed a quiet, adult conversation-filled evening. Those of you with children know how nice that in itself can be! :) I will say this....I was glad to go pick them up first thing this morning though. I missed the little boogers!
We don't actually have much to accomplish today. We did it all last weekend on the long weekend. Of course, I still have the weekly cleaning and laundry rituals and Left Brain is working in the garden, planting his second round of veggies. He's decided to go easy on me this summer and stagger the veggies so that they don't all come in at the same time! Thanks Left Brain!
The boys are currently outside with one water hose hooked up to their super soaker sprinkler toy, one water hose filling up the kiddie pool, and another water hose in hand...soaking one another and everything else! They live life to the fullest, I tell ya! GQ has been telling me all morning how much he missed me last night and Blue Eyes hasn't even noticed that I wasn't there with him. To be blood brothers, they are so opposite. But I've heard that for years about all kinds of siblings....I guess it just really sinks in when they are yours.
In the way of preparing for school....we have survived all of the doctors visits. We've been to the eye doctor (both boys have great eye site) and the dentist (both boys had cavities filled and behaved better than most adults!) and now we are ready to finish up our second rounds of vaccinations. It's been six months since the first set and since we were behind the US regulations we are playing catch-up. I'm not looking forward to that visit given the complexity of the first one! Poor GQ had a tough time!
We just got a letter in the mail that Blue Eyes was accepted into the County Pre-School. I have mixed feelings about sending him. It's a half a day program 7am-11:30am. Since I will be taking GQ to elementary school...the trip isn't what bothers me. It's the fact that we live so far from town that by the time I get them both to school and then get home, it will be time to go get Blue Eyes again. I'll need to get him home for a nap and have to turn around and go back to get GQ. I'll be driving ALL day! I have almost decided to forget about the "free" pre school option...because it won't really be free when you consider all of that gas money. I am thinking of sending him about two full days to the private pre school that GQ attends now. We have already budgeted two days a week into our envelope system....so I figure it won't really hurt anything as far as cost goes. It will also keep me from driving back and forth so many times. I will make a trip twice a day rather than four times a day. I can drop them both off and pick them both up at the same times. Then on the days Blue Eyes won't be in school....it's still the same amount of driving for GQ. I haven't fully decided though...cause as any parent knows...it's not at all about the cost...rarely is what is best for my child what is easiest or cheapest for me! But knowing how wonderful Max's current school is, and how much it has helped him...makes me think that this time I just might get out with what is best for ALL of us! Whew! This parent stuff is hard and worrisome! Gees...why didn't someone warn me! Hahahahaa! I know you tried.
Well, on a lighter note...
GQ's new thing is "Mama, I love you so so so nuch (supposed to be much)!
Blue Eyes' new thing is "Mama, sack a shuga, I eat you up! (This comes from a song we sing together by Elizabeth Miller, originally by Woodie Guthrie (I think) called "Little sack of Sugar". It goes..."giggle giggle, tickle tickle, little sack of sugar I could eat you up." It's really sweet and Blue Eyes loves to sing it.
Hope y'all all enjoy the weekend. Until next time...dasvadanya (goodbye) or paca (bye bye)
