In October 2009, Left Brain and I ventured to Ukraine to start our family. We adopted two precious little boys. We are currently wanting to expand our family by 2 more! We're looking into adoption again. Read along, see where our journeys take us.

A productive day

Today was a paperwork day! In place of our morning visit with Blue Eyes we went to Ochacov to pick up the court decree. It took from 11:00am - 1:00pm for this to happen. Oksana had to proof-read it to make sure everything was correct and then the jurors and judge had to be located to sign it. We didn't have to stay around for this because Oksana took care of it for us! Thank you Jesus for Oksana. She sent us for a visit with GQ while all of this was happening. We were able to play while Oksana did all of the work.
WE HAD A FANTASTIC VISIT WITH GQ!!! I cannot express with words how happy this makes me! We arrived at about 11:30am. He was already outside with his "groupa". All of the children were screaming, "MAMA Y PAPA". It was so hard to tell which one he was from the masses...but he made himself known. I felt arms wrapped around my legs all at once and I looked down....it was GQ! I bent down and he hugged me in a way he hasn't before...and Left Brain too...he accepted us today! FINALLY!
We played outside for our entire visit and he was such a happy child. He kept asking the same question over and over. I couldn't understand it but I almost know he was asking if we were taking him home today. I kept saying..."I'm not for sure what you are asking me...but I will tell you that we will be here around lunch time tomorrow to pick you up and take you home with us. We are going home to America." He kept nodding his head yes and smiling really big. Who knows if this is the answer he was looking for....but he liked it anyway. We had to take him inside at noon because it was lunch time and naptime right after that. He was sad to see us go...but no fit throwing. He just sat on the bench and dropped his head really low. He looked pitiful. Left Brain and I were able to coax him out of it and hug and kiss him good-bye. We told him again about taking him home to America. We also told him how much we love him and used a little sign language. You know...pointing to your eye...crossing your heart...and pointing to GQ. I think everyone in the world knows that means "I love you". He was absolutely precious today. And God knows I needed it!
After our short visit with GQ, we waited for Oksana to finish and then came back to Nikolaev. We ran to get a late bite to eat and drop Oksana off to do more paperwork for passports. We feel badly for not waiting everywhere with her...but she insisted that we come back to the apartment so that we could go for a visit with Blue Eyes.
We are back at the apartment and Left Brain walked down the street to get some more fruit from vendors. He seems to really enjoy doing that.
It's 4:05pm right now and in a few minutes we will go for a visit with Blue Eyes. I'm sure he will be just as sweet today as he normally is.
I chose to update you a little early because Oksana will be occupying the computer to translate our paperwork. We should be able to skype at our regular time though.
Tomorrow is the day....I won't be able to sleep a wink tonight. I'm so stinkin' excited!
We hope everyone is well! Take care...and we will see you all soon!

P.S. We went for our visit with Blue Eyes and it was FANTASTIC as well. He repeated EVERYTHING we said today...so he used lots of English. He understands so much more than we give him credit for. When we first arrived he ran up to me and hugged and kissed me. He held on to me for a while...looking right into my eyes. I said, "hey there Blue Eyes." And he said, "hey mama." It was wonderful! He answered to his name today...but not everytime we said it. We stayed outside for all of our visit and walked laps around the orphanage again. He seems to really enjoy just walking and holding our hands. He's such an easy child to please.

  9. Update....it is morning now, and we are getting ready to travel to "somewhere" town where the boys were born to get new birth certificates. We are leaving in about an hour. And then it is off to get Max. I have his little clothes packed in my bag and I can't wait to change him into them so he no longer looks like an orphan! I can't wait to get him out of there and home with me!
