In October 2009, Left Brain and I ventured to Ukraine to start our family. We adopted two precious little boys. We are currently wanting to expand our family by 2 more! We're looking into adoption again. Read along, see where our journeys take us.

Moving Along

So today has been a fantastic day so far. It is about 1 pm our time and we are waiting to go and see Mr. GQ. We have already been with Blue Eyes today and it was wonderful. He came to us and kissed us. He asked to be in my lap several times. It was sweet and this was a first for him. Many of you are asking what they look like.

Blue Eyes has hair a tad bit darker than Left Brain's. It is almost exactly Left Brain's hair. We have joked about this with our translator. It sort of sticks out in the front like Left Brain's. He has fairly deep blue eyes. He is a big boy. He is very healthy looking and HEAVY! Most children at the orphanage aren't as healthy looking as he is. It is wonderful. He is missing a front tooth...but it is probably because he falls down all of the time because he is so top heavy. He has a fairly good sized head and shoulders...as did Left Brain when he was a toddler. I see many stitches in his future. He is a tough little thing in the sense that he falls a lot and hits his head but doesn't cry about it much. He loves all things rough. Falling makes him laugh, also when others act hurt he laughs. Throwing things at people makes him laugh as well. He LOVES anything fast, spinning, or being flipped upside down. Basically, anything that wears us out!
Mr. GQ is not as hearty looking as Blue Eyes. He is thinner. He is still a healthy child though, just a smaller build. More like me. He has blond hair and blueish green colored eyes. He has the cutest smile with big dimples. It is almost as if he fights smiling and showing his teeth and that makes it even cuter. He is not as aggressive and rough as Blue Eyes. He is very quiet and sweet. He loves to give us hugs and kisses. Yesterday when we visited him we spent the afternoon shaking trees and making the walnuts fall from them, then collecting the nuts in a ziplock bag. This occupied him all afternoon. He opened up a lot and began to cry when he thought we were leaving. Our hope is that today will go just as well. He seems to be a gentle child, always taking care of his things. His toy is still in one piece from the first time we gave it to him. Left Brain gave him sunglasses yesterday and he was always making sure not to drop them. Blue Eyes would have thrown them off of a ten story building and laughed when they went into several pieces. They are brothers, but two totally different children....aren't they all though. We will try to put pictures on here once we are sure they will be awarded to us. Just trust us that they are precious though. Keep praying and we will be home before you know it.

  2. Have you read Toddler Adoption...The Weaver's Craft? I strongly recommend it for preparing for adopting toddlers (even though Max is five, with delays due to living in an orphanage, he's probably going to be developmentally much younger). It's good too that he felt he already had a mother when he met you, that show's attachment to caregivers.

Max and Miles sound like wonderful children. I know this is an exciting time and I pray each day the adoption will soon be awarded to you. Can't wait to see them. Everything sounds like it is going well and we will continue praying for the boys acceptance of you (sounds like it is going well)and everyone else involved.
