This weekend we are on our own in Ukraine. Our translator had to go home for the weekend because her son had eye surgery and is still in the hospital. We talked with her today and he is doing well. She will be coming back late Sunday night or early Monday morning on a bus. We are doing much better on our own than I thought we would. We have the same driver we have had since being here and that helps because he knows our routine and speaks a little bit of English.
Today went wonderful with Blue Eyes. He is moving along just as he should. He keeps testing us when we tell him no and today was the first day that we scolded him for not listening. We figure now is as good of time as any. He responds well to time out. We were only able to be with him for about an hour because I woke up late. We spent lunch time at the apartment resting because we knew the driver would be there to get us around 2pm to take us to Ochacov to see Mr. GQ. Today was a washout with GQ. He gets SO VERY frustrated because he can't understand us and we don't understand him. I think all of that came to a head today because we were there without Oksana our translator. He stomped his feet at us a lot. But when we went to leave he started to cry. He almost wouldn't let us go, he kept taking the batteries out of his truck so we would stay and put them back. It was cute. He also refused to give us hugs good-bye. When we finally got one of the caregivers in the room she was able to explain to him that we would be back tomorrow and he seemed much better with that. He finally hugged and kissed us good-bye and walked us out to the car. So I guess that is progress.
We were also able to go to the market today and get some things for the boys and ourselves. We got several things to eat for breakfast and lunch and snacks and toys for the boys too. We had pizza for supper again tonight. I really like the pizza here. It is similar to Tom's pizza but sweeter. It's good but Left Brain says it hurts his stomach...then again, so does Tom's pizza.
Oksana says that it will probably be a week from Monday when we go to court. On the eleventh day after court we will be able to pick up the boys and keep them with us. This is what we are looking forward to most.
We don't really know anything else at this point, but when we do we will keep you posted. Thanks for keeping up with us and keeping us in your prayers. Please continue to do so because we believe this is what is making this trip as easy as it has been so far. Pray specifically that GQ's orphanage comes around and that GQ starts to understand a few English words so that he doesn't feel so frustrated with us.
Thanks and we love you all and can't wait to come home with them so you can meet them!
