Yesterday, or Wednesday, we were busy moving to the apartment in Nikolaiv. It turned out to be really nice, so we are SUPER excited about that! We visited them both again and did take another car to the little one for him to destroy. But surprisingly it was still all in one piece when we returned today. He must have not liked it as much as the other, so he didn't play with it....maybe that is why it survived. He is the one we are calling "blue eyes" for the purpose of this blog. We have started calling him Ivanya "blue eyes" so that he gets used to the two together and then we will drop Ivan. He seems fine with our presence and came to us right away. But he will pretty much go with anyone that will take his hand. It will take a while for him to realize that he is ours. We were able to see a presentation at his orphanage involving the children. It was in honor of adoption day here in Nikolaiv. That was neat.
The visits with Alexander are going great. He is the one we are calling "Mr. GQ" for the purpose of this blog. He doesn't like it when we call him Sasha "GQ". He says, "no, it's just Sasha". That will be a tough one with him, as also learning English will be more difficult for him because he already knows full Russian. Otherwise, he is the sweetest child. He is warming up to us more everyday. And today he cried when he thought we were leaving him (we had to go inside because it started to rain). When we finally did leave he kissed us both. How sweet. He loves to look at pictures on our camera. When we showed him the pictures we brought in the album, he smiled really big when our translator told him he had two sets of grandparents.
We are trying to find a way to skype, but it isn't working well. Had we known we would have internet at our apartment, we would have brought our own laptop....but hind sight is 20/20, hey?
Oksana says that things are looking well. We have to deal with both orphanages separately. Blue eyes' orphanage is moving very quickly, but GQ's is not. The director at GQ's orphanage wants us to be sure and bond with him before we go to court. Oksana assures her that there will be time with that during our stay, but the director remains uneasy. We cannot move forward until she feels better about it and gives us the appropriate paperwork. Please pray for that. Oksana first thought we would have court next week, but if the director doesn't come around then it will not be possible. So, as of now that is what we are waiting on. Oksana runs around and does tons of paperwork while we are visiting the boys. It seems to be the best of both worlds. We are adopting them without having to do the work. We just send her with money and go play. It's great so far. At least until we run out of money. :) We will update when we know more.
That is wonderful. I was worried about you guys when we didn't hear from you yesterday. I guess we need to be learning some Russian so we can help them learn English. Lou's mom said she couldn't wait to see pictures. Everyone at church last night said to tell you they were thinking about you guys. Tell Max and Miles we love them and can't wait to see them

Kailey (and the rest of the bunch) :)
If your kids are anything link mine, they will go back and forth with their name preferences. We gave them each one American name and kept their Ukrainian name as either their first or middle name so they can choose what they want to be called. Glad things are going well. Praying for a change of heart for the director!
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki and Ben,
ReplyDeleteWe're enjoying following your journey to get the boys. Sounds like they are going to do wonders to Pat's tractors. Keeping you in our prayers. We love you, Wayne and Linda.
