Cooking for a dog??

Well, we didn't get good news at the ultrasound appointment! I've cried non-stop! Our fears were confirmed, the tumor is inoperable, and worse, has calcified.  The only symptom she is showing so far, and our reason for taking her to the vet in the first place, is her significant weight loss.  She's lost over 20lbs in a 6 month period and is still eating like a horse!! The veterinarian says that this will continue until she just basically loses more and more weight and wastes away.  Of course we will not let her get to the point of death before putting her to sleep.  Although she has been a member of our family for nine years and was my first child, I still want her quality of life to be good and will not allow her to suffer beyond that point.  Keeping her alive for my benefit is just not right.
In the meantime, they have suggested we alter her diet in a way to help her stay with us longer. CARBS CARBS CARBS! We hear how bad they are for us, but in Belle's case, carbs slow tumor growth! Who knew?!?! She's getting a steady diet of plain noodles! We're still giving her small amounts of her dog food but are switching it because it's high protein content speeds tumor growth. Also, she gets a can of Boost or ensure every day to add easy calories back into her diet. We're trying to put some weight back on her!
Even after all of these measures we still probably only have a few months left with our sweet Belle, though no one can say for sure.  Our goal is to help her live out the rest of her life as happy as we can! Plenty of walks, ice cream cones, and swims in the pond! Oh how she will truly be missed!!
