In October 2009, Left Brain and I ventured to Ukraine to start our family. We adopted two precious little boys. We are currently wanting to expand our family by 2 more! We're looking into adoption again. Read along, see where our journeys take us.

happy birthday, my love

Today is a very special day at our house.

It's Papa's birthday!

Happy Birthday, my beloved!

He's 28 today....we're getting old!

And when I say we, I mean Left Brain! (Sssh! I'm only a few months behind him!)

We don't over celebrate birthday's at our house. I'm not really sure why, but we don't. We have cake and a few presents, but that's about it. No extravagant parties or presents. Just simple family time. I kinda like it that way.

So, this evenings festivities won't be all that grand. It'll be a normal Friday night thing. The boys stay with their grandparents and Left Brain and I will have a lovely dinner filled with adult conversations. (I don't get many of those throughout the week, so it's a treat for me!) And we may catch a movie.

It's a typical Friday night. We're fairly boring. Left Brain says we'd be easy to assassinate. I try not to dwell on things of that nature, but he's right. We are VERY predictable.

Now for some randomness......

I think we are back to normal now. Blue Eyes is back to himself again, and no one else has gotten sick.....yet! Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Have I mentioned that we are heading to the beach this summer? Well, we are!

Remember that junk I posted a while back? Sure you do.....all I want for Christmas is a real good tan? Ring any bells?

Well it seems that my lovely husband took notice, and he booked a trip to the beach for my Christmas present! It really was just a present for me, as Left Brain isn't particularly fond of the beach. What a sweet gesture!

Anyway, I said all of that to say this...

I've decided to step up my workout regimen prior to donning a swimsuit.

I realize that to those of you who are familiar with me, this seems ridiculous. I realize that I don't NEED to do this, but I want to. I feel better.

So, I have increased my kickboxing visits from once a day to twice a day. That's now a little over an hour of cardio kickboxing a day. It's not too much. Especially since I space it out. I go at 5 am for the first class. It gets me going and is a good start to my day. Then I head home and get the boys ready for school. Breakfast, making beds, staring laundry and dishes, etc. After dropping them off at school, I head back for the 8:30am kickboxing class.

It is after this class that I also occasionally find myself on the tread climber or in the spinning class.

I AM SUPER SORE TODAY! This is day 3 since I have stepped it up a notch, and boy howdy!

My little fireball of a fitness instructor thinks it's hilarious! He laughs at me during the second class. I assure you, it is MUCH harder the second time around.

I'm starting to rethink this whole idea. Is fitness really all that important?!?! I mean, GEES!

Y'all have a good day!

  1. Happy Birthday, LB! I've been away from the blogosphere for a while, so I'm a bit behind... but hope you had a wonderful, predictable Friday night with your family.

And Nikki - wow, I don't know how you get that kind of workout time in every day! I count racing up and down the stairs with laundry as both my cardio & resistance training. I'm sure it gets easier after babies aren't so little anymore, but between baby, housework, work, volunteer projects, blogging... I don't know how anyone finds time to intentionally exercise! I need to work on that... Maybe I'll bust out one of my videos this afternoon.
