In October 2009, Left Brain and I ventured to Ukraine to start our family. We adopted two precious little boys. We are currently wanting to expand our family by 2 more! We're looking into adoption again. Read along, see where our journeys take us.

My latest Adventure

Let me be the first to tell you that I am the most uncrafty and uncreative person you probably know.....with that being said, I'll tell you my latest adventure.

I have decided that since the boys don't really understand the concept of Halloween, this will be the one and only chance that I will ever have at picking out their costumes. After this year I am sure they will have an idea on what they "want to be" for Halloween.

So.... "My choice?" You ask.

Dr. Seuss' Thing One and Thing Two. You know.....those little crazy characters from the "Cat and the Hat". They bounce around everywhere, tearing up everything they touch. Yep, that's it....now you are making the connection between those crazy characters and my two boys. It's a perfect fit.

The one and only problem......I can't find any costumes that I like. They all look so cheap, and they are mostly adult costumes. So, I decided that I would make them.
Choke back your laughter and hear me out.

How hard can it be? I ordered some solid red footed pajamas yesterday. Today, I went to Michael's Craft Store and bought self adhesive felt to make the circles and letters (I'll just stick those right on the pjs). I also bought some bright blue feather boas (now this is where craftiness might come in handy). I am planning on hot gluing the feather boas to toboggans for the blue wigs. We'll see how that turns out, but in theory it sounds like it will be cute, right!?!?!

Anyway, I'll be sure to post photos when I get them finished.....that is, if I ever get them finished.

I hate to say it.....but I think I'm gonna end up being one of those moms that always makes her kids costumes. The ones in the stores these days look so cheap and silly. Anyone could do better than that. If given enough time that is....which is why I am starting on these in mid-August.

Wish me luck!
P.S. This photo is one of my all time favorites of my best friend and I. We aren't laughing at my attempt to make Halloween costumes.....but Oh, how fitting!

  1. You can do it! I know you can! Can you not use some sort of hair coloring and color them blue? And I love that picture! You know I do!
