In October 2009, Left Brain and I ventured to Ukraine to start our family. We adopted two precious little boys. We are currently wanting to expand our family by 2 more! We're looking into adoption again. Read along, see where our journeys take us.

Rain, Rain Go Away!

It has rained non-stop since the night before last. Since all of the streets are so poorly maintained....and FULL of HUGE pot-holes.....it looks like a pond on the streets out there!
We went ahead a braved the weather this morning and walked to visit Blue Eyes. Because we couldn't find him we wasted most of our visit walking around the orphanage looking for him. His "groupa" was tucked away in a corner of the orphanage courtyard outside that we didn't even know existed.
We were able to walk a few laps around the orphanage with him and then it started really raining and we had to take him inside. Since we can't communicate with the caregivers at the orphanages...they thought we were bringing him inside because we were leaving. So, we ended up having to leave. Our visit with him was great while it lasted and he was really excited to see us when we got there because we missed the day before. He ran to us and kept kissing us. It was so sweet.
We walked back to the apartment and had lunch here. We watched a few more episodes of some of our favorite tv shows online.
For supper we walked down to the pizza place around the corner from the apartment. This time we ordered it with cheese only and it was much better than before.
Now we're back at the apartment and out of the rain. It continues to rain and cool off outside and we fear that it will be MUCH colder tomorrow.
We're looking forward to a skype session with the girls from the youth group at church.

  2. The weather has been nasty everywhere I think. Rain & clouds for days are depressing, aren't they? Glad you are hanging in as best you can. I think you have earned some down time so I give you permission to have a tiny kicking fit if you want to. It might not change the situation but it will relieve the monotony. Take turns at it tho, so you will have someone to scrape you off the floor when it's over!! Plus the show lasts longer that way. You might even try a tag-team approach. Just don't use the "Judy Chop" on each other. I'm sorry time is moving so slowly right now. We usually tell prospective parents they better enjoy the rest because soon the rest will be over. Someday you will wish you could rest...blah, blah, blah! Not too much comfort but that's what old people do best---give advice!!! Except ME, of course. Love to you all

  4. Nikki & Ben,
We truely understand what it is like to be
so far away from home in a strange land where
hardly anyone can understand you, but you will
be fine & you will really appreciate home & all
the blessings we have here much more when you
return. It is going to be a great joy to see
the delight & amazement in those boy's eyes
when they experience their new world for the
first time. Hang in there! It won't be long now! Love you both! MeMe & Peeps
