As you can tell from the title of my post...we are in the Amsterdam airport waiting for our flight to Memphis. We had a 4 hour layover here and we are killing time. They have an internet cafe close to our gate...so here we are.
Just a little about what we have been doing....
Thursday we spent most of the day doing paperwork for visas for the boys and getting their medical exam completed for the US embassy in Kiev. All of that went smoothly but it still took time. The boys were exhausted from the train ride and ill...but they did fine. They didn't want to take a nap...we tried for over 2 hours and they just screamed the whole time. Oh well. They went to bed early that night but Blue Eyes woke up every two hours because we were in a new and strange place.
Friday we went back to the embassy at 10am for our appointment for interviews. They told us a bunch of information about registering the kids with the Ukrainian Consulate in Washington D.C. and then printed their visas right there in the office. For convienience they printed them right in their passports. How nice...not two things to keep up with...just one! YAY!
We left early this morning (Saturday) and took a plane to Amsterdam (which is where we are now) and will leave on our flight from Amsterdam to Memphis at 1pm. It is now almost 11am, so we have a few hours to go.
Hope everyone is well. I will try to update the blog tomorrow sometime so that everyone knows we made the connecting flight ok and we are back in the US.
Talk to you all soon.
Oh yeah...the boys did great on the first flight. THEY LOVED LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW!!! They weren't even scared during the take off or landing...they also slept a bit. It was only a 3 hour flight so I am anxious to see how they do on the 10 hour flight.
See you all VERY soon.
We are planning on keeping them home until Left Brain goes back to work on Thursday. That should be enough of an adjustment period. We will see.
Paca-Paca (from the boys...means bye-bye)
Love to you all X 4!!
i hope you are reading this from home! WELCOME HOME! i can still remember the total exhaustion. But you will recover quickly. show the boys around the house and let them look at and explore things. Gently, but firmly let them know things that are "off limits" and redirect them. you will find MANY different opinions on this...but i suggest you let them sleep in their room if possible..no hard and fast rules, but i think it sets up good boundries and makes for better sleep. let's keep in touch!
ReplyDeleteoh, yeah, i forgot to mention again about visitors. after a few days i would let people come by for short visits..take pictures of them so you can talk to the boys about them and let them learn their names. grandparents get first priority! keep it simple!
