Here we are...

Well, as most of you are now aware....we've been at this for over a year now. Somewhere around February of 2008 we started this journey not knowing what to expect. We had our ups, downs, and in betweens with starting our family the "traditional" way. Adoption was the next logical step for us, as we knew that we would eventually make it there.

In May of 2008 we had our first meeting with the wonderful ladies at Hopeful Hearts in Lousiville, KY. They graciously agreed to set us on the path to expand our family. We were instantly in love with the country Ukraine. If you were to ask my husband, who I refer to as "left brain", why we loved it so....he would pause for a minute, only to say, "It's a God thing." And it truely is. There is no other way to explain the desire in our hearts to adopt from Ukraine than to say that God has placed it there.

We started our paperwork for the homestudy right away and in October of 2008 (due to left brain's refusal to write his autobiography) we finally met with our wonderful social worker, Ashley, to finish up the process.

In February of 2009 we sent our dossier (via a couple traveling to Ukraine for their adoption) over to Ukraine. We were basically "waiting in line" until we heard some news. In May of 2009 we got word that Ukraine had given us an "acceptance date" of August 30, 2009. I have since been given the feeling that this is very unusual. I think most couples have no knowledge of an acceptance date, they just get confirmation and a travel date. We feel really blessed to have known so far in advance a round about date. It had allowed us to prepare in ways we may not have had the time to otherwise. We are looking at an approximate travel time in late September or early October. So, hopefully this Christmas will be one spent with family and friends, with the addition of two little Ukrainian Blessings.

We hope that all of you will follow our blog and look for photos of our travels and new children.
